The Garage Games

Feb 2011 20

Nate Schrader finished with two first, a second, third, fourth and fifteenth place finish in the six events.

Here at The Garage Games, we respect Nathan for his incredible athleticism, and we were blown away by his sub 3-minute performance on the Sandbag/DL event. The guy is “stand-up” in many ways, and his passive, quiet demeanor does not go unnoticed.

But as we have gotten to know more about him, we respect him most for his faith. When I asked Nathan to tell us a bit about himself, he responded openly. Read Below.

What makes me who I am…well, the reason I exist is to give glory to God, and it’s no different when I’m working out or competing. The only reason I am pursuing crossfit as a sport is because God has gifted me and at this point in my life allowed things to fall into place to make this possible. He could very easily change this anytime, all it takes is a car wreck or any other of life’s circumstances that people wonder why happen. I love serving people and developing relationships; what better opportunity than through the close-knit community that crossfit seems to bring about?!

My life is centered around my relationship with God; I am a Christian and if it were not for Jesus I would be a despicable, miserable person. The complexity of life points to God, and in this one can see how it’s a miracle we can breathe, let alone do workouts like the ones we do; it’s all a gift that we should be grateful for, but at the end of the day its what we do with those around us and what we are given that matters, so if I couldn’t do crossfit anymore for whatever reason, I’d be just as happy knowing that there are many things more important in life.

This all deals with my faith, but that’s my life. If there’s any other area you’d like to know about in particular let me know. Thanks!

Nate

I can tell you after the performance we witnessed here in early February, we hope that Nathan has the opportunity to compete in CrossFit for a long time, and we wish him the best in our competitions and on the larger stage this year!
