The Garage Games

Gina Franco has always been a fitness fanatic. Before starting CrossFit more than five years ago, she was an aerobics instructor and personal trainer who worked at several “globo gyms.” She’s also trained for and completed a triathlon, which she recalls as a great experience. But, when she found  CrossFit, she knew that she had found what she had been looking for.

Gina has been with CrossFit Milford since her very first WOD, “Michael.” For  four years, she has been a coach at CFM and describes her coaching  philosophy as believing in a “total and complete healthy lifestyle; meaning fulfillment in all aspects of one’s life – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. When a person is active, they feel great, have more confidence, more  energy and get more accomplished.” Gina also the head coach of the CrossFit Kids program at CFM. The program has more than 35 kids and teens, along with some special needs kids that have seen great improvement in their
lives.

Gina is active in the local CrossFit community not only as a coach, but as a judge and athlete. Gina is known to lead by example. She’s also a mom, and has involved her children in the CrossFit lifestyle. Both of her daughters train at CrossFit Milford, and her oldest has begun to follow her mom’s lead by competing and volunteering at local competitions.

“My nature is not competitive, but I LOVE to watch Crossfit!” Gina told us. She said the Garage Games offers her a way to share in the excitement not only as an athlete, but as a judge or even a fan. “Being able to share the workout with the athlete and know exactly the emotions they are feeling is just awesome,” she said.

Gina loves Garage Games events because anyone can play. “The Garage Games are an awesome way to participate and get that competitive feeling without the anxiety and pressure. It’s awesome. We encourage our entire box to sign up for Garage Games events, as they have scaling for all levels – true Crossfit.” Gina said.
