Judge Certification Process

Sign up here to be registered as a judge waiting for testing (*check the bottom of the page for upcoming testing sites and contact us). You will want to watch the video below, prior to your testing date. We are currently working on a method to test online in case you are unable to test at an event, or an event hosts box.

Registered judges will have opportunities to be tested at ANY Garage Games event, or hosting box. You will be scored between 3 and 9 total points. 3 is the best score you can get, and 9 is the worst. We will select judges from the top first, and from the bottom only as needed. The point is to have the absolute best judging around, and we are working to provide that.

Compensation

Life As RX is our major shirt sponsor, who will be supplying Judge shirts to every event that has over 200 competitors signed up.  Below 200, we will not have their sponsorship package.  Therefore you will receive a judge shirt from us once you have become registered, which is to be used as your uniform at events where there are no separate judge shirts provided.

Inov-8 F-Lite 195 in RED are the JUDGE Uniform Footwear.  You are not required to purchase these shoes, but at $55 for a pair (cheapest we have seen anywhere online is $105), this is an awesome deal, reserved for Garage Games Certified judges, brought to you by Inov-8!  If you want a pair of shoes, you will need to sign up as a judge!  Shoes will be shipped to the event host in most circumstances, be sure you know your size.

We will email all certified judges to give them access to the shoes.

Additional Compensation

We don’t know where this will go yet, but we surely hope that we will have an opportunity in the future to increase compensation to a level that would make the judging selection, a competitve process, with well over the needed number of judges, applying for those positions.

We will be announcing other judge opportunities shortly.  Some of these will require service in one, or more events before being able to access the deal/compensation/offer.  We are constantly looking to bring in sponsorship dollars to FUND this piece.  Even if there is a leap of faith here right now, the value will be brought back in.  Our commitment is to fund this effort with sponsor dollars, because in order for competition to thrive, judging must thrive as well.

Registration/Sign up

We’ve recently updated our Judge Registration page.  Upon registering, you’ll receive an email with your Judge ID.  You’ll need that ID going forward to receive special deals just for our Garage Games certified judges.

TESTING

We are working on an online test for some of these components, however for now, you will be tested/verified by an event host.  After registering to be a judge, and volunteering for an event, ask the event host when they will be offering certification tests.  Thanks!
