Did you know that there are Two Person teams at Western Massacre? And did you know that there is a NOVICE division at Western Massacre? YEP!
This is the first time in one of our comps that the Novice CrossFitter has been given a class all to themselves, but they get to do it as a team. The absolute best way to comfortably enter into the competitive ring happens on a team, Affiliate Owners – you should be promoting this in your boxes! This POST gives you the details on the WOD’s and what each division requirements are.
The first and third WODs as performed as a team of two. For the second WOD, each athlete must pick one of two events. The fourth event is for the top eight men’s and women’s teams in the Competitor and CrossFitter categories.
WOD 1. Team Broad Jump. 3-2-1 go: At starting line, Athlete A broad jumps. He must stick the landing (that is, feet may not step or slide), but may put down hands. Judge uses chalk to mark a line in front of toe of athlete’s rear foot. Athlete B broad jumps from that line, etc. Athletes each get five jumps, which must be landed within 90 seconds. Jumps are for total distance…
[..]Here are the events for our WESTERN MASSACRE event, to be held on Saturday, October 27th. We are offering three categories of scaling:
Competitor: at this level, WODs are performed “As RX’d”.
CrossFitter: this for the “average” CrossFitter, a good athlete who can complete most of the classic CF benchmark WODs as prescribed. Scaling is specified.
Novice: this is for newer CrossFitters, and anyone else who wants to experience the thrill of competition, even if some of the movements and loads in the “CrossFitter” category are still a little out of reach. Each team is allowed to use scaling appropriate to their ability level (different color bands, varied loads, etc). THERE IS NO SCALING STANDARD FOR THIS CATEGORY, SO IT IS NOT BEING JUDGED FOR COMPETITION.
