The teams explained!

Team events are a staple of The Garage Games.  We know that you will have options for team competition all year long.  There are a few factors that went into determing how teams were scored towards the overall finale.

  1. Teams can be a mixture of extremely fit individuals with less fit individuals.  Because of this, it is important that a team does not receive points equal to that of an individual.
  2. There will not be enough team competitions to accomodate the required SEVEN total competitions to be ranked towards the finale.
  3. In general, it is accepted that there will be less team competitors than individual competitors, thus the field is less competitive.  Therefore it would not be appropriate to awards equal points to team members as to individuals.

Individuals will be scored:

Finish Points   Finish Points   Finish Points   Finish Points   Finish Points
1 185   11 130   21 100   31 70   41 40
2 170   12 127   22 97   32 67   42 37
3 165   13 124   23 94   33 64   43 34
4 160   14 121   24 91   34 61   44   31
5 155   15 118   25 88   35 58    45  28
6 150   16 115   26 85   36 55    46  25
7 146   17 112   27 82   37 52    47  22
8 142   18 109   28 79   38 49    48  19
9 138   19 106   29 76   39 46    49  16
10 134   20 103   30 73   40 43    50+  13

Teams will be scored with the EACH member of the first place team receiving points equivalent to an 11th place individual finish (130 pts).  Second place team members will get 127 points, third place 124 points, etc.
IF the same team took first place in every team event, they would have an accumulation of 130 points per event, which is a significant step towards reaching the top of the overall Series Leaderboard.  The point, is that there might be more potential for someone to reach the top by mixing individual competition with  team competition; and it might be wise for top individual competitors to not shy away from team competitions which might establish them towards the overall.
The announcement will be coming soon on the overall prize for the top male and female competitors for the series.
